Running a clinical laboratory requires a lot of equipment like tubes, needles, gloves and more. If the workers were to run out on any of these materials, they will have difficulties, or they won’t be able to fulfill their duties. That is why it is important to establish a management of materials within a laboratory so that processes can go on today and up to the foreseeable future. Material Management isn’t required only in laboratories. Even something as simple as households needs them too, especially in the food supply or groceries.
I have experienced both systems but what I prefer the most is the IOS system. IOS system is easier for new users which makes it user-friendly, unlike android which is more complicated to use. In terms of file management, I prefer having IOS as it is much easier because of its iCloud feature. The iCloud feature makes the files accessible on every IOS device as it automatically updates the files whenever there is wifi/ data. However, Android doesn’t have this feature although you can have a third-party device such as an external… Read More
I prefer iOS over Android because of the overall user experience. iOS devices are more intuitive and offer a seamless, unified experience across all Apple devices, making it easy to switch between devices and carry out tasks with minimal hassle. With a consistent layout across all Apple devices, the user interface is extremely streamlined and user-friendly. This allows me to quickly navigate and find what I am looking for without having to re-learn the interface every time I switch devices. Furthermore, iOS devices are more secure than Android devices, with layers of… Read More
In order to answer this question, I went to reddit and look for threads that discuss about preferred LIS. Out of the many threads that I read through, the most common ones mentioned were Sunquest, Epic (Beaker), Cerner, and Softlab. Detailing the specific pros and cons of each software proves to be a challenge throughout the search because most of the comments posted by the users merely talk about their overall experience with the software. I prefer to use android though I must admit that I do not have any long-term experience with iPhone so my answer may be biased. I did try migrating once, but I did not like it. Just like you sir, I am quite knowledgeable about open-source programs, and android’s compatibility with such is why I prefer this operating system than the other. I have open-source apps on my phone that I cannot live without and its also the reason why I won’t see myself migrating to the other again because there is… Read More

During a provider visit, laboratory information systems keep track of, record, and update clinical information on a patient and save the data in their database for later use. LIS… Read More
The Laboratory Information System (LIS) used interchangeably with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) is the heart of the clinical laboratory. The main difference between the two is that LIS is used in the hospital setting and pharmaceutical industries whilst LIMS can go beyond medical uses. LIS is a system integrated in a laboratory which allows for the reduction of manual labor. It is an integral part in the clinical laboratory as it is part of the process from the Pre-analytical to the Post-analytical steps. Make laboratories more efficient as it reduces error… Read More
