					<span>The cervix is part of the Female Reproductive System and it is the junction between the uterus and vagina. It lies at the base of the uterus and it also serves to protect it from bacterial infiltration. Additionally, it is also the site of an important epithelial transition.
The upper cervix (endocervix) is lined by a simple columnar epithelium which contains mucous-secreting cells. In contrast to this, the lower cervix (ectocervix) is lined by a stratified squamous epithelium.
The external os is the transition point between these two epithelia.
Also, do take note of how the underlying layers of the cervix are composed mainly of collagenous and elastic connective tissue, instead of smooth muscle fibers.</span>

					<span>Your digestive system comprises of organs which break down food, absorb its nutrients, and also expel any of your remaining wastes. Adding to that is how your digestive system contains three (3) primary functions with relation to food. 
These are: 
•	Digestion of food
•	Absorption of the nutrients from food
•	Eliminating solid food waste
The process of breaking down the food you consumed into components which your body can absorb is known as digestion.

This consists of two (2) types of processes:
•	Mechanical digestion – It is the physical breakdown of chunks of food to turn into smaller pieces. Takes place mainly in your mouth and stomach.
•	Chemical digestion – It is the chemical breakdown (wherein bonds would be broken) of large and complex food molecules into smaller and more simple nutrient molecules. Those in which can be absorbed by your body fluids (the blood or lymph). This starts in your mouth and would continue in the stomach. Although, this occurs primarily in the small intestine. 

Once the food is digested, the nutrients would then be absorbed. The process wherein substances would pass to the bloodstream or lymph system to circulate throughout your body is known as absorption. Nutrients being absorbed primarily happens in the small intestine. In the process of elimination, remaining matter from food which are not digested and absorbed would pass out of your body through the anus.

The 3 microscopic photos of Digestive System Body Tissues I included for my histology art are the following:
•	Human Large Intestine – When your large intestine receives food coming from the small intestine, the food has been liquified via the digestive process. Adding to that is how most of the nutrients have been absorbed. The colon’s function would be to dehydrate the remains of the food and turn it into stool.
•	Human Appendix – In the typical case, the appendix has a rather “unknown” function and that you can live your life normally even without it. However, researchers have deduced that the human appendix is designed to give protection to good bacteria in your gut.
•	Ileum - It is the final and longest segment of your small intestine. It is responsible for the absorption of the vitamin B12 and as well as the reabsorption of conjugated bile salts.
