    “Stephanie Jade: Her COVID-19 Story”

Maramag, Bukidnon — A student nurse from Central Mindanao University shares her COVID-19 story of how only 1 tested postive of their family members that got infected by the virus, but they all had to quarantine at home for two weeks.

Stephanie Jade, made a facebook post of their COVID-19 journey on her personal account to raise awareness on patients who still experience the stigma that they got from the general public. On her post she stated “I’m very hesitant to post this since there is still a stigma against COVID-19 survivors. However, I feel like it is such a blessing that our family was able to survive 15 days of home quarantine with only 1 who tested positive.”

She also mentioned that there are a few things they did as a family to counteract the symptoms the virus was giving them. These were; 1) Mask Up 2) Disinfect and Sanitize 3) Refrain from eating together 4) Tell the people you had contact with 5) Contact the authorities.

“At the first signs of illness (miskan sipon “ra” na), wear your mask even inside the house. My sister and I share a comfort room together miskan katong nag positive na ko. Every after I use the CR, I make sure that all the surfaces are scrubbed and wiped clean. Don’t be selfish. Inform those you had contact with,” Stephanie Jade added.

There was a mention of her stressing how important contacting the authorities and asking them to immediately conduct a contact tracing activity. This was to make sure the virus does not spread to the community they were in. She also clarified that the tests for COVID-19 aren’t the ones who give you the virus rather, are the ones who make sure you have it or not.

Stephanie mentioned, “I cannot stress this enough! My family opted to contact the authorities than put other people at risk. One person told me, “Nagpa test man gud ka. Awa na positive hinuon ka.” To that I will say, “Kung naa kay COVID, miskan magpa test ka or dili, kung naa ka ana, naa jud na sa imuha.” It’s not the test that would give you the virus. And to be honest, mas daghan pa kog na ilhan nga nagpa test and tested negative kaysa nag positive.”

In her post she uploaded a series of photos documenting their time in isolation. Each of the photos had narrations on how their days went on as they battled the reason for the pandemic we are in. Moreover, Stephanie Jade empahized getting vaccinated as a means of protection from geting the virus again. Luckily their experience wasn’t as worse as others.

“I only had mild to moderate symptoms because I got vaccinated. Who knows what would’ve happened if wala jud ko na vaccinan. My symptoms could’ve been worse.” she said.
