MT 30 – IJ (LEC) 4 years, 1 month ago This research article highlights a new method of using human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) with retinoic acid, ascorbic acid and proteins to mimic epithelial tissue.
Because epithelial tissue requires keratinocytes, the researches used a specific culture method for the hESCs to differentiate into keratinocytes. What they obtained was a pure keratinocyte population that could be potentially used in the field of tissue engineering, to replace clinical skin defects.
