Muscle Tissue is a type of basic tissue made up of cells that allow muscles to contract. It is categorized into three distinct types: smooth, cardiac, and skeletal.• Smooth muscle consists of a group of fusiform cells that are found in the digestive tract, uterus, and arteries. It is non-striated and has slow, involuntary control.
• Cardiac muscle is the only muscle found in the heart. It is an involuntary, rhythmic, and striated muscle that is responsible for the ability of the heart to pump blood.
• Skeletal muscle is a specialized tissue that contains bundles of very long, multinucleated cells with striations. It is mainly attached to the bones and allows body movements. Their contraction is quick, forceful, and voluntary.
