Medical Histology – MT 30 Lab C (2022) 4 years, 6 months ago Muscles are soft tissues composed of many stretchy fibers. The body comprises more than 600 types of muscles having their own function. Some muscles help an individual run or jump. Some muscles allows breathing and digests food while other muscle beats thousands of times a day to keep a person alive.There are three main types of muscle tissue and their description and functions are as follows:
• Skeletal. This type of muscle is part of the musculoskeletal system thus they work together with the bones, tendons and ligaments. Tendons attach skeletal muscle to the bones and together they support the weight of the body and help an individual move.
• Cardiac. These type of muscles line the heart walls. They help pump blood that travels through the cardiovascular system. You don’t control cardiac muscles.
• Smooth. These muscles line the inside of the organs such as the bladder, stomach and intestines. They do essential jobs like move waste through your intestine and help the lungs expand when breathing.Reference:
