Connective tissues connect structures, provide a framework and support for organs and the body as a whole, store fat, transport substances, protect against disease, and aid in tissue repair. They can be found all over the body. Connective tissues are distinguished by an abundance of intercellular matrix and a small number of cells. Connective tissue cells can replicate, but not as quickly as epithelial cells. Most connective tissues are well-blooded, but some are not.
