Hair, nails, and related glands are all part of the integumentary system. This system regulates body temperature, maintains cell fluid, synthesizes Vitamin D, and detects stimuli. For example, thermoreceptors regulate body temperature by adjusting peripheral blood flow, perspiration, and body hair.
