MT30 CD: Histology 3 years, 8 months ago This is my illustration of a neuron. The neuron is defined as “the fundamental units of the brain and nervous system, the cells responsible for receiving sensory input from the external world, for sending motor commands to our muscles, and for transforming and relaying the electrical signals at every step in between.” For this activity, I choose the nervous system. It always reminds me of the times when my mother had to undergo brain surgery due to a hemorrhagic stroke. I just believe that this is one of the most important systems in our body because during that time I was not able to talk to my mom the way we used to because her brain was affected and she could not even recognize her own husband. All the memories were gone for a while. For me, without memories is like that person was not the same person you used to know anymore. Nevertheless, that is all I can share about this activity.
