Medical Histology Art โ MT 30 Lab C (2022) 4 years, 1 month ago The digestive system includes the digestive tract and accessory organs which process food into molecules that can be absorbed and utilized by the body. Digestive tract is also known as ๐ ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐จ๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐๐ฅ (๐๐) ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐๐ญ, is consist of long hollow continuous tube that extends from the mouth to the anus. While, the salivary glands, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas are accessory organs that have role in digestion.Presented below is a histology art of the microscopic views of some parts of the digestive tract specifically gall bladder, large intestine, and appendix. Their description and function are as follows:
โข ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ฅ๐๐๐๐๐ซ is part of the digestive system who is responsible for storing bile. Bile helps the digestive system break down fat. It is mainly a mixture of cholesterol, bilirubin, and bile salts.
โข๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐๐ง ๐๐๐ซ๐ ๐ ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ is along tube that consists of three parts, colon, rectum and anus. It turns food into waste into stool and passes it from the body to the external environment. It also absorbs water and any remaining nutrients from the food before passing the ingestible material to the rectum.
โข๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐๐ง ๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐๐ง๐๐ข๐ฑ’s function is unknown. However, a theory says that the appendix acts as a storehouse for good bacteria, rebooting the digestive system after a diarrheal illness. Surgical removal of appendix causes no observable health problems.References:
