The respiratory system is made up of organs that are mainly responsible for breathing. Breathing is the process by which oxygen from the air enters your lungs and travels through your body. The main organ of the respiratory system is your lungs. Other respiratory organs include the nose, the trachea and the breathing muscles such as the diaphragm and intercostal muscles.
