    Hi there!

Check out my histology art on the respiratory system body tissues that I digitally vectorized using Adobe Illustrator!

The respiratory system comprises the different body organs responsible for breathing where your body takes in oxygen in exchange of carbon dioxide

The three respiratory system body tissues that I used for my histology art are the epiglottis, ciliated pseudostratified columnar epithelium, and hyaline cartilage. I am providing a brief yet comprehensive description of the three down below:

Epiglottis – the epiglottis is a flap of movable cartilage located at the root of the tongue that is depressed during swallowing to cover the opening of your windpipe and prevent food from entering your respiratory tract.

Ciliated Pseudostratified Columnar Epithelium – Except for your larynx and pharynx, most of your respiratory tract epithelium is composed of pseudostratified columnar epithelium. They are responsible for helping trap and transport particles that enter through the nasal passages and lungs.

Hyaline Cartilage – As a connective tissue, hyaline cartilage provides support to the different structures of your respiratory system such as your larynx, trachea, and bronchi. The airway of the trachea is held open by cartilaginous rings of hyaline cartilage.

That’s all for my histology art on the respiratory system body tissues! I hope you learned a thing or two!
