    Hello there!

Take a look at my second histology art on the digestive system body tissues that I digitally vectorized using Adobe Illustrator!

The digestive system comprises the different body organs responsible for breaking down food into nutrients such as carbohydrates, fats and proteins. They are then absorbed into the bloodstream so the body can use them for energy, growth, and repair.

For my second histology art on the digestive system, the three body tissues that I used are the gallbladder, esophagus, and appendix. I am providing a brief yet comprehensive description of the three down below:

Gallbladder – Your gallbladder is a sac located under the liver and functions mainly to store and concentrate bile that is produced by your liver. Bile is involved in the digestion of fat and is released from the gallbladder to your upper small intestine in response to high fat food.

Esophagus – Your esophagus is a hollow and muscular tube that transports food and liquid from your throat to your stomach. Muscles in your esophagus propel food down to your stomach in a process known as peristalsis.

Appendix – Your appendix is a thin tube that is connected to your large intestine. Specifically, it sits in the lower right portion of your abdomen. Although its function remains controversial, the appendix plays a role in your immune system which helps you fight diseases and infections.

That’s all for my second histology art on the digestive system body tissues! I hope you learned from this art of mine!
