It is made up of many organs and structures that transport oxygen and carbon dioxide into and out of the lungs. This is my histology art for respiratory system tissues that shows the microscopic view of hyaline cartilage, elastic cartilage, and pseudostratified respiratory epithelium.The following are the roles of each component of the respiratory system:
1. Hyaline Cartilage– Its main purpose is to offer some cushioning and reduce friction between the ends of the bones.
2. Elastic Cartilage – Maintains the shape of specific structures, such as the external ear, by providing strength and suppleness.
3. Pseudostratified Respiratory Epithelium – Mucus and the dust it transports up the bronchi and trachea toward the pharynx, where it might be ingested, create a highly effective barrier to bacteria.
