The ductus deferens or vas deferens is a muscular tube connecting the epididymis with the urethra in the prostate.

It has a duct which resembles that of the epididymis except the luminal surface has longitudinal folds. It is lined with a pseudostratified columnar epithelium.

Its muscular Layer consists of three layers (inner longitudinal, middle circular and outer longitudinal) of smooth muscle similar to the tail of the epididymis.

Sperm is transported through the vas deferens by peristaltic contractions of the smooth muscle.
