The corpus luteum generates the hormone progesterone, which creates a healthy environment for a developing embryo in the uterus. Every time you ovulate, a new corpus luteum forms, which degrades when it is no longer required to produce progesterone.

It is a fully natural cyst that grows on the ovary of women of reproductive age every single month. This cyst is essentially a collection of cells that grow within your ovaries during each menstrual cycle. It occurs immediately after an egg has left the ovary (ovulation).
