Microscopic Photos of Reproductive System Tissue Slides 3 years, 10 months ago Testes
Gametes and steroid sex hormones are produced in the testes. The fibrous tunica albuginea and tunica vasculosa encase it, though not visible in the picture. The gland is divided into lobules by septa that extend inwards from the tunica albuginea. The seminiferous tubules, in which sperm develop, make up the majority of the gland. Spermatozoa enter the extremely convoluted epididymis, visible on the dorsal part of the testis here, after exiting the testicular duct system formed of the rete testis and ductus efferentes.
