The respiratory system is composed of a group of organs and tissues that together facilitates action to aid breathing. Its main task is to transport fresh air into one’s body while removing waste gases. Note that majority of the respiratory tract especially from the nasal cavity to the bronchi is significantly lined by pseudostratified columnar ciliated epithelium. Bronchioles are lined by simple columnar and cuboidal epithelium, meanwhile, the alveoli possess a lining of thin squamous epithelium which allows gas exchange.
