This video comrepeheansively discusses the risk management and laboratory safety in the Histopathology Laboratory. It is a lengthy video and might be tedious for some since every laboratory class always discuss this topic since first year. But, risk management and safety in the laboratory are crucial and must be always reviewed as every person who enters the facility is at risk of different hazards.

As students who will take the Histopathologic and Cytologic Techniques subjects, we should be aware and well-informed of the safety protocols and risk management, especially that we transitioned to face-to-face subjects after two years. The laboratory on this course subject mostly deals with histological chemicals thereby exposing as often to chemical hazards. Chemicals bring harm to health when they enter or contact the body. Moreover, they can cause explosions, fires, corrosions, or even emit poisonous gases. Some of the common chemicals used in the histopathologic techniques laboratory are acetic acid, chloroform, diethyl ether, ethanol, formaldehyde, hydrogen peroxide and methanol. -
As we go along with the laboratory activities for this whole semester, may we always review and heed to these important matters. It is not just about your safety, but also the environment you are in and the community. -
