    Reflections on Alex Amartei Marmah’s Study:

    In her descriptive research entitled “Students’ Perception About The Lecture As A Method Of Teaching In Tertiary Institutions”, I definitely learned a lot about how students view the lecture method of teaching. I find it important to know that the students in the study, who were from the College of Technology Education-Kumasi, had a generally similar experience with regard to the lecture teaching methods. However, their views were statistically different based on their status (full-time vs part-time students) and based on their ages as well.

    On the study’s open-ended item which asked the students to input what they think could be done to improve the lecture method of teaching, some of the respondents answered that the lecturer should not be the only one who should talk during the lecture. I especially resonate with this because I believe that active participation in class makes the students learn more despite it being called a “lecture” method.
