The Circulatory System
The cardiovascular system, also referred to as the vascular system, delivers oxygen, nutrients, and hormones to cells in the body for energy, development, and repair. At the same time, it eliminates carbon dioxide and other waste products that are not needed by cells.

Hi everyone!
Let me share some of my learning insights in MT-14 LEC and a short piece of reflection about Psalm 56:3-4.1. As an aspiring medical technologist, I realized that the creation of a lab manual has truly exposed me to the real world of clinical diagnostics. I learned the importance of careful planning, clear communication with the personnel and clients, and strict adherence to safety protocols. Through this experience, I have gained valuable insights into laboratory practices that have deepened my understanding of this field. So, making a lab manual has taught me the value of being a well-organized person, in my line of work and in everything I do. Putting together a good structure for the guide means thinking about who will use it, what we need to achieve in their scientific tasks, and which tests they are going to do. All this planning has made me better at keeping things tidy and knowing how everything should fit in neatly so that anyone can understand it easily. In the end, making a lab manual has taught me to take patient care and safety seriously. Being a med tech student means putting patients first by sticking to standard procedures and ensuring high-quality work. I’ve learned that it’s crucial for us as lab professionals to follow policies that prioritize precision, dependability, and ethical behavior. By doing so, we can make sure doctors have accurate info they need for diagnoses or deciding on treatments – this is why, what we do is really important.
2. Psalm 56:3-4 – “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.
When we’re going through tough times and unsure about what’s to come, let’s take a cue from this verse. Instead of giving in to fear, we can rely on God’s nature and the things He promises us. I am empowered knowing that everything is under His command and that He’ll assist me no matter what happens. I am reminded that our subjective/objective faith grows stronger when we put our trust in Him during difficult times. Everytime I get overwhelmed from things, I get this suffocation and lump on my throat that doesn’t allow me to breathe — because my mind traps itself in a small cage and thinks of myself so small, I easily get shaken — but because of this verse, I’m reminded that God has my back no matter what type of shifts happens in my life and that people with ill-will can no longer hurt me, because God’s plans are pure and they are from love. I am able to change my perspective everytime I come across this verse.
What is the importance of material management in the laboratory and in my life?
One of the highlights in the field of medical technology is the significance of material management — as it is crucial for the laboratory operations happening inside a laboratory setting. It’s importance takes part in maintaining the availability and handling of materials like chemicals, reagents, and other pieces of equipment that are necessary for accurate test results while preventing anything that may come to waste, reducing costs, and also it enhances inventory control. When there is a streamlined and proficient material management system, it assures employees, employers, and customers that the workplace is smoothly running in terms of proper laboratory functioning since there will be decreased errors that may directly impact patient care. The systematic and robust procedures enable us to monitor our belongings’ movement which leads to decluttering possessive items that are not being used anymore or those purchases that are not necessary. It helps us with our decision-making skills, especially through correct inventory control measures. Since we want to also achieve sustainability in today’s technological landscape, we appreciate the importance of laboratory management — with its course of action to also take into account safety measures when in contact or handling harmful substances and by also improving personnel by training them essential methods for their regular assessments in the laboratory setting because continuous education is necessary. The external audits are also regulated and monitored. It’s purpose and benefits will help me as a future medical technologist, as I’m readying for the compliance of my decision-making skills inside the laboratory setting and for future purposes ahead of me.

1. Health system
2. Philippine health system
3. Primary health care
Good health is essential for us to participate in our community and to lead a productive and fulfilling life. Healthcare exists to mean in every aspect to facilitate our well-being including service and payment mechanisms. It has provisions for health services to every individual — the healthcare interaction involves a wide range of entities like laboratories, doctor’s offices/fees, pharmacies, nursing homes, hospitals, and many more. The Philippines’ dual healthcare delivery system, which is the public and private sector, aims to provide care and advocate for the public with health information disclosure — but at what cost when hospitals, medications, and other services are beyond reach to some rural places and are expensive but very cheap to expats. Our country’s healthcare delivery system has a lot of flaws, it faces a lot of challenges like being understaffed since our medical staffs migrate to western countries for better salary income. Another challenge is our diagnostic medicines being limited, unequal access to medical care, facilities being out of date, political dynasties, and lastly, lack of equipment. Because we live in a third-world country, we have poor lifestyles that steer us to the leading illnesses; hypertension, diabetes, and kidney diseases, and because most Filipinos are having financial troubles our government has endorsed insurance to cover medical expenses, there is international and local insurance. We are familiar with PhilHealth, a national health insurance program to provide coverage for indigent families and those with limited financial resources. The government has declared RA 11223, or the universal healthcare law which will further develop and improve access to quality health services where every Filipino citizen must enroll to receive benefits since most of the population relies on the healthcare system while expats also have health options.
