Hey everyone! For today’s histology discussion we are going to be talking about the nervous tissue. Here is an article that I found that might aid us in our learnings today.
Nervous Tissue – Characteristics, Structure, FunctionNervous tissue is the main tissue of our nervous system. It regulates the functions of the body. Nervous tissue consists of two cells: nerve cells and glial cells
Why is Histology important?
Histology, also known as microscopic anatomy or histochemistry, is a branch of biology that studies the microscopic anatomy of biological tissues. This field of study is important because it helps students understand the arrangement of cells and tissues in a normal organ system. It also helps in correlating the structure and the function of a tissue or cell. Additionally, it helps visualize the structure of tissues and identify any irregularities or characteristic changes they undergo. Histology is extremely useful in diagnosing diseases and planning treatments, as well as, for understanding other fields such as anatomy and physiology.

WHAT I HAVE LEARNED FROM MT14 LEC
Being a medical technologist is more than just drawing blood and acquiring samples. We are also responsible for the task of delivering accurate and reliable results that can be used not just for diagnosing and treating disease but also for improving the healthcare industry. Through this subject, I learned a lot of things that helped me visualize what its like to work inside the clinical laboratory. For starters, I learned about the different laboratory information systems, and how advantageous they are for the lab and the medical technologist. I was able to appreciate the convenience it provides for medical technologists and can’t wait to try and see one. I was also able to further understand the role of quality control, and its importance in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of results. Aside from that, I also learned how to construct a procedure and policy manual, calculate and allocate resources, and learn about the different tests that most clinical laboratories offer. Finally, as me and my groupmates worked on PEAK Diagnostics – the virtual clinical laboratory we worked on for our final project, I realized that running a clinical laboratory is not easy. However, with proper material management, adherence to the rules and regulations concerning clinical laboratories, the company of dedicated and skilled colleagues, and of course an increase in the salary 😉 and appreciation of healthcare workers, I believe that working inside the clinical laboratory can be a fulfilling experience. I am forever thankful for the learning experience and the memories I made with my classmates in this subject.

Importance of Material Management in a Clinical Laboratory and in a Household:
The success of a clinical laboratory is greatly influenced by how great the material management program is. Material management is a scientific technique concerned with planning, organizing and control of flow of materials from their initial purchase to destination. It ensures that all of the supplies and equipment used by the laboratory is accurate to the services offered, available at the right time and in the right quantities, and is of high quality. Through this process, the clinical laboratory can assure that the services they offer to their clients/patients are safe and efficient. Material management is also important in cost control and in compliance with standardized rules and regulations. In the household, material management can be beneficial for budgeting and ensuring that we don’t overstock and only buy the things we need. It can also help keep our place clean and organized. The power of logistics and materials management in healthcare – Buro HappoldScientific and technological advances in the healthcare sector over that last 50 years have been unprecedented in human history.
