The Philippines is one of the most populous countries. The increase in population, has affected the demand for all healthcare facilities, including hospitals and long-term care. The ultimate goal of life is to live with joy, attain success, and obtain wellness. Globally, health had always been a serious issue for humanity over the years, people had affirmed this as the leading precedence of an individual’s viability, especially the ones ranked in the upper social class, on the other side, the majority had also asserted health as a predicament and considered the least priority due to the presence of financial instability. Public healthcare in the Philippines is administered by Philhealth, a government-owned corporation, that helps the National Health Insurance Program, establishes to provide health insurance coverage, and ensures affordable and accessible healthcare services for all Filipinos, yet limited medical consultation provided by public hospitals does not work alone if the impoverished has no money to buy lifetime maintenance medications and are left with little to no adequate care. Due to the post-pandemic that left us with fear, trauma, and health conditions, healthcare issues are as well augmenting expeditiously. In order to mitigate this problem, healthcare services should be free for all, or at least be made accessible to every individual.

According to the agency responsible for international public health, the World Health Organization, stated the downsides of” Free HealthCare Services”, free healthcare services does not come cheap and enforcing it has the potential to undermine the level of health care services provided (Rappler, Apr. 1, 2019). The majority of healthcare will be paid by general income or payroll taxes of people. Therefore, healthy people pay for the sick. Although it is true that providing free healthcare services has a detrimental effect on the government’s budget and healthcare quality service, the benefits are also worth considering, as they will provide a clear reference point for the claim that free healthcare services are the solution to the country’s increasing healthcare problems.

With the increase of population, this has affected the demand for all healthcare facilities, including hospitals and long-term care, the implementation of free healthcare services is the solution to this growing problem. The Department of Health may be called on to review and study the sustainability and practicability of implementing free health care services for all Filipinos.
