1. In our central nervous system, there are more than millions of nerve cells, 100 billion neurons in the human brain, and about 13,500,000 neurons in the spinal cord.
2. Vitamin B, Sodium, proteins, and other mineral ions, including potassium, magnesium, and calcium ions, are equally essential nutrients required for maintaining the healthy and proper functioning of our nervous system.
3. An optic nerve, which is also known as the cranial nerve, is the fundamental part of the central nervous system and the most significant sensory nerve of the human eye. The structure of the eye mainly comprises millions to billions of optic nerve fibers that are involved in transmitting visual information from the eye to the brain.
4. The fastest signal transmission in the human body occurs by alpha motor neurons. It is the largest, multipolar lower motor neurons of the brainstem and spinal cord. The signal transmission occurs at 260 to 268 miles per hour.

This is the College of Law Building! Named after Mr. Cornelio Villareal, a Filipino politician who served as Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Philippines from 1962 to 1967, and again from 1971 to 1972. This building is equipped with fully air-conditioned classrooms, a library, one moot court for court practices and other special events, and a student lounge. Internet access is also available; for a fee, students may opt for WiFi access. In 2007, Villareal Hall was the site of Chief Justice Reynato Puno’s historic announcement of drafting the Writ of Habeas Data. <3

In the Book of Romans, specifically Chapter 4, Paul explained that people were always justified by faith, especially in the Old Testament. Paul began by stating that if Abraham was justified by works, he had something to boast about before men. But that is not how God set up this plan. Paul said ‘Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.’ He said the person who works and does what the Law requires does so not as a favor to God, but because that is what he or she is expected to do. The person who follows the law isn’t doing something ‘special’, but is doing what is required.
But the one who understands they cannot obey and follow the law completely, but instead asks God for mercy and believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited to him as righteousness. The most important verses in this chapter are Romans 4:11 and 12 which state, ‘And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they are not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also: And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.’
God wants us to understand after reading this chapter that Abraham was declared righteous by God because of his faith in God’s promises, and this happened before he was circumcised. All people must have their hearts circumcised by the Holy Spirit. Circumcision of the flesh is a sign and seal of what happened inside that person’s heart. ‘This is my covenant which you shall keep between me and you and thy seed after you — every male child among you shall be circumcised. \’ The biblical explanation for this commandment states quite clearly that circumcision acts as an outward physical sign of the eternal covenant between God and the Jewish people. God wants people to know that no one can earn salvation by following the law, because following the Law is already a demand placed on them. It is not a ‘favor’ to God.We are justified by faith in Jesus Christ, not by our own obedience to the law. that we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We cannot earn our salvation by our own good works. Instead, we must trust in Jesus and his finished work on the cross. When we do this, we are justified by faith and receive the gift of eternal life.

“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through Him, we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”
Paul explained how justification came into the world, some characteristics of justification, and what the results of justification are. Paul taught that people are justified by faith and that believers now have peace with God through Jesus Christ. He said because of this, we are glad when we think of our trials and tribulations because they bring about perseverance in our lives. Perseverance brings proven character, and proven character brings hope to our lives. And God has made a promise, a covenant that people will not be disappointed in the hope they have in Him. God also showered and poured upon on his love for us by giving us the Holy Spirit. Salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ brings us peace with God, access to his grace, hope for eternal glory, and salvation from his wrath.
Overall, this chapter does not only teach us that our salvation is secure in Jesus Christ, but telling that we have been justified by faith, and we have peace with God. We can now live our lives with gratitude for what he has done for us and share the good news of salvation with others.

I used to walk in the way that leads to destruction and I was blinded by the many currents in life, now I see there are two paths and there’s this one, with a narrow gate that leads to righteousness, the way that is provided by God. The lesson of Romans Chapter 6 is that we have the power to live a life free from sin, this is up to us if we would want to embark on living a life of purity or not. We have been crucified with Christ and we have been raised to walk in newness of life. We are no longer slaves to sin, but we are now slaves to righteousness. United with Jesus in the likeness of his death we will certainly also be united in the likeness of his resurrection. This brings a message to surrender the Holy Spirit, we need to surrender to His control and allow Him to work in our life.

When I landed my feet on the port of Dumaguete, entered the vast halls of Silliman, and treaded past the side of enormous Acacia trees, I realized the detours in our lives certainly lead us to the most beautiful destinations where we are called to be. Day by day, as I continue to perceive my environment inside the campus, an exceptional feature I have always noticed and admired of the Silliamanians, both faculty and staff, is the CAPE that they wear every day. This cape is being manifested with competence, character, and compassion as they deal, interact, and socialize with other individuals, both on and off campus.
The C in cape stands for Civil; everyone, even inside the dorm I am staying at or the Silliman staff I get to ask for help with, maintains a courteous and respectful demeanor in interactions. Being civil, it shows respecting someone for who they are, albeit we are not in close terms or related. I value and appreciate this kind of attitude so much.
The A stands for appreciative; my friends, acquaintances, and even one of our janitors at the dorm appreciate small things whenever I have the chance to give even small things to them. Being appreciative is something a Sillimanian entails, which involves valuing the contributions and qualities of others.
The P stands for professionalism and passion; the former is that Sillimanians conduct themselves with integrity and excellence in school and at work. I see this from my teachers, who are also products of SU. The latter is passion, because I know that a Sillimanian is molded by his or her holistic development built in various aspects and a student’s passion to continue each day, quenching the thirst for learning despite many impediments.
The last, E, is ethicality. The majority of the Silliamanian community, which I know and am acquainted with, adheres to a strong sense of moral principles and ethical conduct. This is due to the fact that we are treated with excessive solicitude by CHS instructors, fostering the value of education in a Christian orientation and thus offering reflective lifelong learners and transformative Christian witnesses.
This is why I believe a Sillimanian is someone who has a pure heart, one who embodies competence, character, and faith, from the first day of school and for the rest of his or her lifetime. The unique Silliman education is a metamorphosis that hones us from our baby steps towards flying and reaching for the stars. A Sillimanian has a perspective willing to serve the community as an independent, critical thinker who will soon be productive citizens of this country who will strive to create a remarkable change for the world’s betterment.𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘂𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀?
What makes us different from other universities is the way we visualize a future filled with active Sillimanian professionals. An example of this is Hibalag 2023, where I get to witness different organizations filled with different people, all having similar goals. I realized that there are youths who are not indolent; there are youths wanting for achievements, progression, and accomplishments—and this is a powerful vessel that one should have. Now that I see great students, I know they will become virtuous leaders tomorrow.

My view of the mental aspect of man is that he or she is a multifaceted and complex individual who is interlaced with other dimensions of human existence, such as emotional, social, and spiritual; moreover, there are many schools of thought that shape our thoughts, behaviors, and experiences, which are vital to our being uniquely humans and influence our overall and holistic well-being.
