Why Is Histology Important?Histology is a very important field of study that has many applications in different scientific disciplines. To recall, histology focuses on tissues and their structures with their linked functions – allowing for observations or studies designed for various uses.
⠀
Histology in MedicineThere is no doubt that histology is integral in medicine, enabling us to understand structural changes underlying and associated with diseases. It helps healthcare professionals to diagnose and be guided in choosing proper treatment interventions.
⠀
Histology in Other FieldsHistology is also relevant in other areas of science. It aids in the understanding of tissue and organ anatomy and physiology among different species; it is essential for veterinary science; and it plays a vital role providing useful information during criminal investigations as well as post-mortem exams.
⠀
Further Appreciating HistologyThrough histology, we are able to admire the complexities in our body and understand that there is beauty even in human function, much like the beauty of God’s creation. The in-depth examination of cellular structures enhances our knowledge about these intricacies, making us appreciate all the wonders that life has to offer.

MT 30 (LEC) – AAWhat Is Histology Art?
A Field Where Science Meets Art
Histology art seamlessly merges the precision of scientific observation with the creativity of artistic interpretation, giving rise to a distinct avenue for appreciating the hidden beauty of the human body and the natural world. Serving as a bridge between science and art, its objective is to provide a fresh perspective on the intricate structures fundamental to life.
Anyone can start by studying histological images and identifying captivating structures to use as inspiration. Experiment with various artistic mediums to capture the essence of these microscopic wonders, and let your creativity flow as you translate scientific observations into visually striking artworks.
As a medical technology student, I\’m familiar with the need to undergo drawing or painting tissues, but I never considered appreciating Histology art itself. Histology art is extremely important, drawing inspiration from the images produced by advanced microscopic and imaging techniques. By transforming these scientific visuals into art, histology artists contribute to the communication of scientific knowledge and the humanization of medical research, enriching the understanding of complex biological concepts.
One of my favorite figures in the world of histology art is Leonie Schön, known by her artistic identity, \”Lamellipodium.\” As a pathology resident, she seamlessly integrates her expertise in medicine with her passion for art, producing captivating histology-inspired pieces. Quality control and quality assurance are both critical elements of any organization\’s quality management system. Quality control refers to the processes put in place to identify, assess, and correct any issues that arise during the manufacturing or production process. This ensures that the end product or service meets the established quality standards and is safe and reliable for consumers.
Quality assurance, on the other hand, is a more proactive approach. It involves creating a system of checks and balances to prevent issues from occurring in the first place. This includes setting standards and procedures for production, testing, and inspection, as well as ongoing training for employees to ensure that they understand and comply with the established protocols. By implementing quality control and quality assurance measures, organizations can ensure that their products and services are of the highest quality possible, meeting or exceeding customer expectations and driving success in the marketplace.
LEVEY-JENNINGS QC CHART
The Levey-Jennings QC chart is a graphical representation tool used in quality control testing to monitor and analyze the quality of analytical measurements over time. It plots the measured values of a QC material against their respective time of analysis, with the central line representing the mean and the upper and lower control limits representing the acceptable range of variation.
By visually identifying any deviations or trends that fall outside the acceptable range of variation, the Levey-Jennings QC chart helps analysts to detect issues with the analytical process before they become significant enough to affect patient care or other outcomes. As such, it is an essential tool for quality control testing in clinical laboratories, research laboratories, and other analytical settings. Overall, the Levey-Jennings QC chart is an efficient way to ensure the quality of analytical measurements and maintain the accuracy of laboratory results.
Attached below is a video explaining how the Levey-Jennings QC Chart works:
