The Knowledge I Acquire From the Subject “MT 14 (Health Information System)”
The subject, MT 14 (Health Information System), not only just teaches us more on technicalities but also on how we can apply it in our future endeavors. It lets us be aware of how vital HIS is to the medical field. It lets us realize that using HIS makes the process of saving patient records more efficient and convenient. Along the way, learning this subject is not that boring since it is not a pure lecture. Even though this is a lecture subject, we were able to have an opportunity to be exposed where HIS is being utilized in real life situations such as in hospitals and clinical laboratories.
HIS is really vital for it is vastly used in hospitals and clinical laboratories for convenience and easy access on tracking of patients. It will save time on finding a patient’s record because you will do it with some taps rather than looking one by one at bulky amounts of paper. It will lessen the expenses of the institution for it does not consume much paper so, it will save the environment as well. It will make us keep track of the patients, their health history, and last hospitalization to know the reason for their current illness. And, it will be more convenient because knowing your laboratory test results will be accessible as well as the other necessary information and prescriptions in case physical copies are not available.
It is really evident that HIS plays an important role in hospitals and clinics. In our final project for this subject, we are exposed to clinical laboratories and hospitals wherein we can observe that they are using HIS. It can be seen that every clinical laboratory or hospital is utilizing different kinds of platforms for their HIS. We also acquire knowledge on how they build, manage, and let their laboratories grow. We can base to the knowledge we get from them when we consider building our own laboratories in the future.
