As examinations are almost ending, I’d like to share this verse which I’ve been incorporating into my prayers:
“Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.”

Whole Person Education: The Goals and the Challenges is an article highlighting Dr. Ben Malayang III’s interview about Whole Person Education
GE 10 – DD
Reflection:
After reading the interview with Dr. Ben S. Malayang III in the article “Whole Person Education: The Goals and the Challenges”, I’ve come to realize that he wanted us students to be more than who we are. Dr. Malayang ought for us to be visionaries who can be and see what is beyond what others could. However, it does not mean that we would turn into people who would think that we are number one but rather become whole people due to the Christian Faith that we have. With that being said, Dr. Malayang emphasizes that the United Board would be able to ensure that this “Whole Person Education” could be greatly incorporated within our curricula by helping our institution push to have curriculums circling this topic. I believe that this is actually quite a smart way since it would then lead to making the United Board visit the university for accreditation to check if it is indeed incorporated and since they would have to visit, then the institution has to ensure that this has already influenced the curriculums present.Yet, as a student, I still think that changing students into a “Whole Person” with the definitions used by Dr. Malayang is quite challenging considering that the school is a mixing pot of different minds. I have even noticed how some students have disregarded the Christian faith or their religious faith in general. I have noticed students who did terrible things to survive in school. I have noticed students who threw away their dignity and value for the sake of having their wants. And so with all that observed, I believe that the institution really has to strengthen its methods in making the students “whole person”. The institution must find a way to really be able to touch the hearts of the students most especially the ones who have grown apathetic due to the difficulties life has made them witness.
From what I know based on observations, Whole Person Education is a class that teaches us values and principles that we need to attain as we grow for us to be able to have a basis on what we must do in our day-to-day life especially as we work with other people in completing tasks as well as in helping improve status quo. With that being said, I believe that through this class we will be enriched with lessons regarding our university and the values and principles it follows for us to be able to fully act as to what a true Sillimanian should be and should do.
