GE 10-DDInsights on the article, “Whole Person Education: The Goals and the Challenges”
I truly believe that integrating whole person education into our curriculum is very important because not only does it allow us students to develop our holistic self to effectively summon the best version of ourselves in serving the community with our unique chosen endeavors but it also gives light to the essence of faith apart from competence and character which embody the Sillimanian spirit within us. This is effectively synthesized by Dr. Ben S. Malayang III when he mentioned that WPE overall provides us with a higher ability to learn, live, serve others, and serve God. Moreover, with his second response about accreditation, including languages, and the silent curriculum, encompasses a vast category of elements for WPE to be integrated into colleges by the United Board. While they might be more of connecting linkages among Christian schools under the United Board and forming ties with its students, I believe that they all share the same goal of fueling the students’ will to live wholly as a person and experience a life with a purpose anchored on their faith to God and the love to serve people with a grateful heart. With this, I believe that the United Board along with its faculty are doing their best to provide an education that aim to create future Christian leaders who are trustworthy, responsible, and passionate in serving the community.
