The former Silliman University President Dr. Ben S. Malayang III characterizes whole person education as a method that blends competency, character development, and trust in God. He thinks that by leveraging its large network and supporting the presence of Christian religion in educational institutions, the United Board can aid Asian colleges and universities in integrating whole person education. This collaboration may entail establishing accrediting systems to assess effectiveness in developing well-rounded graduates who are skilled in their areas, have strong character and integrity, and have a strong religion. Dr. Malayang also recognizes the difficulty in gaining faculty support for this strategy and recommends that the United Board might serve as a platform for envisioning and reforming teaching and learning practices in the region.
