GE 10 – BB“What is whole person education and multiple intelligence?”
In the article by KnewSTEP Education, I learned that people can grow in different ways, not just by reading books and gaining knowledge. People can have six types of intelligence: IQ (how smart you are), EQ (how you understand and manage emotions), SQ (how well you interact with others), AQ (how you handle tough situations), CQ (how you understand different cultures), and FQ (how you manage money). These kinds of intelligence are like different skills that we can develop within ourselves.
For example, AQ is about how you deal with challenges, and FQ isn’t just about finance jobs, it’s actually about managing your money and time in everyday life. To teach ourselves about responsible spending, we can make shopping lists, compare prices and quality, and stick to a budget. This helps us learn to be disciplined with our money and time, thus allows us to further become better at managing ourselves and our resources.
Another important kind of intelligence is Social Intelligence, which is known as SQ. It is about how we handle relationships and interact with people. In the article, Psychologist Daniel Goleman explained that our interactions with others can affect our health. Goleman’s research also showed that schools teaching EQ and SQ skills had students with 10% better grades, showing that good relationships not only make us healthier but also help us do better in school and work.
There’s a saying: “first work on yourself, then take care of your family, then help your community, and finally, make the world better.” We can use discipline and open-mindedness to further develop our different areas of intelligence and apply them in the real world for us to grow and have lesser problems in life.
