Chapter 1 elucidates Paul’s description of Jesus Christ and His gospel, where people continuously reject God. Jesus was a descendant of King David, according to his human flesh, to fulfill prophecy, and the Father declared Jesus Christ as His son and proved it with power by raising Jesus from the dead. Paul continued and wrote that he was under an obligation to everyone to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ because Jesus himself gave him this order. He said he was not ashamed of the gospel, Romans 1:16: โFor I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ; for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.โ He was emboldened to preach because he knew the gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes; God explained who He was to all people through creation, and everyone is without excuse if they reject God.God had numerous prophets foretell the coming of His son, Jesus, and declared Jesus as His Son by raising him from the dead. God wants people to know that since the beginning of human existence, His power and His divine nature have prevailed. But why do people not find it worthwhile to pursue that knowledge and look for other things rather than fulfill their spiritual satiation? So God gave them over to a perverse and darkened heart. God gave them what they wanted, and thus people fall into their manmade eternal damnation. Romans Chapter 1 made me reflect and realize I should never turn my back on Jesus. I will continue to repent for my sins, and I know He will never turn His back on me either.

Paul tells the Bible readers that God will repay everyone according to their deeds; to the godly, humane, and faithful person, He will repay to them eternal life in heaven; on the other hand, to the filthy sinner, with indignation. But is this really what God wants to happen for us?
I believe that the Lord wants us to gradually come to Him, and repent for our dark pasts, as I know He is patient and loving โ He will wait for the time for us to come back to Him. God wants us to know that He looks into peopleโs hearts, and if they do the things the law requires them to, God considers that as keeping the law and embedding the Holy Spirit within ourselves. Perhaps, this chapter is a message that God wants us to have His laws written on our hearts.

Godโs forgiveness and justification through Jesus Christ alone can save our souls. Everyone has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, yet God has given people a gift of grace, whether we come back to Him or not. God will justify our sins, but he decided to show mercy to the people who place their faith in Jesus Christ. God determines what reality is, but then again, He is loving, patient, and kind.
