GE10 – BBWHAT IS A SILLIMANIAN FOR YOU?
For me, a Sillimanian is someone who is socially conscious and someone whose values align with the teachings of the Christian faith. Sillimanians are those who actively engage in their communities to make positive changes and contribute to the betterment for both our society and our environment. These are people who let their faith guide their actions in life and live in accordance with God’s teachings. They know what the difference is between right and wrong, and dedicate themselves to lifelong learning as well as service to others. I have only been in Silliman for a year and a half, but the one thing that I have learned that makes someone a Sillimanian is having a sense of camaraderie and living a life that lives out the Via, Veritas, Vita.
WHAT IS YOUR VIEW ON THE MENTAL ASPECT OF MAN?
The mental aspect of man is something that is extraordinarily complex yet so delicate at the same time. I believe that the mental aspect of man reflects who someone is as a person as it is the one that interprets and makes sense of information from their environment and of the world. For me, the most interesting thing about the mental aspect of man is that it gives us the ability to be conscious and self-aware, and enables us to question and think about the purpose and meaning of our lives as well as enable us to interact with one another.
