October 13, 2023On October 13, 2023, I want to share my admiration for a specific building at Silliman University—a place that holds a special charm not just for me but for many others. When you search “Silliman University” on Google, the first thing that catches your eye is the impressive Silliman Hall. This architectural marvel stands as the university’s oldest structure, dating back to its construction in 1903.
As a child, I distinctly remember strolling along the boulevard, and every time, the enchanting view of Silliman Hall would capture my attention. This iconic building has transformed into a prominent point of interest for visitors, much like a cherished jewel within our city. What adds a fascinating layer to its story is my recent revelation that the building’s ceiling is crafted from metal sheets sourced from an old theater in New York. This discovery unveils an intriguing aspect of Silliman Hall’s history, turning it into a compelling narrative that goes beyond its outward beauty.
