Stepping into the Luce Auditorium feels like a journey through time and generosity! This architectural gem,is perhaps one of my favorite buildings in Silliman. Constructed in 1973 and completed in 1975, it stands as a testament to the global spirit of education. With a cost of P4.4 million, the Henry Luce Foundation, Inc. of New York played a major role in its creation, but it was truly a collective effort.

Silliman University, its alumni, dedicated faculty, hardworking staff, enthusiastic students, local businesses, and friends from the Philippines and abroad all chipped in. The United Presbyterian Commissions provided the remaining balance, while the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia, based in the heart of New York City, offered assistance.

On the 6th day of October in 1974, the Luce Auditorium was formally inaugurated, dedicating this remarkable facility to the memory of Claire Isabel McGill Luce (1923-1971), wife of Henry Luce III, President of the Henry Luce Foundation, Inc.
