SILLIMAN ESTABLISHMENT| Silliman University Church
The SU church started its construction in 1941 and was expected to be
finished in 1942, however the war stopped the
construction and its final completion was dated last 1949.
The cornerstone, with an encryption “The foundation of God
standeth sure,” was laid on Founder’s Day
1941.
• The first service was held on the New Year’s
Eve of 1941.
Inside the Church you can marvel the beautifully made stained glass
windows,donated by the Ilagan couple, that depicts “Jesus the Teacher,” “The Prodigal Son,” and “The Parable of the Good
Samaritan”.
Fronting the SU church is the famous Amphitheatre, donated by the graduating
high school batch of 1923. It was once used to be the place where
students hold Shakesperean plays and
the first ever Miss Silliman Pageant.
