Centered on the institution’s fundamental principles and values, the vibrant shades of red and white emphasize Silliman’s longstanding mission to dedicate itself passionately to whole-person education and to become the bridge to holistic success for its students. The logo also prides itself on the year the University was founded as this showcases how it has been igniting aspirations, shaping dreams, catalyzing growth, and molding committed students since 1901. Powerful symbols of the burning lamp and the Bible display Sillman’s unwavering resolve to the pursuit of knowledge while also cementing this endeavor in one’s faith and moral values as it should take center stage in all one’s learning acquisitions. The surrounding vines denote growth and the institution’s zealous venture to promote intellectual and personal nourishment. Relatedly, the stars and the scallop encasing the motif epitomize unity and Silliman’s unwavering verve, respectively. Also scrawled on the crest is the University’s guiding motto amidst its aspirations of providing enriching values and wisdom: “Via, Veritas, Vita” which translates to “The Way, The Truth, and the Life”. Indeed, the Silliman University Logo is more than an emblem of visual aesthetic, it is a symbol of the school’s identity and a perpetual reminder of what Silliman stands by, works for, and believes in.
