The nephron, the functional unit of the kidney works to filter the blood. The waste and water from filtering the blood will turn into urine and is excreted out of the urinary system. The nephron’s work starts in the glomerulus where blood enters and undergoes filtration. It passes through the proximal convoluted tubule, the descending and ascending loop of Henle, the distal convoluted tubule, and into the collecting duct where the filtrate will be transported to the ureter or the bladder.
