The exchange of information is part of communication and citizenship, especially when registering, filling out official forms, participating in surveys and interviews, and attaining license and official identification cards, among others. However, there have been countless cases where these important processes have been played havoc with as their supposedly important purpose has been replaced by malicious, misleading, and manipulative ideas that could cause potential damage to a person’s life.

As a response to these threats, the Data Privacy Act of 2012 is committed to protecting the fundamental human right of privacy while not compromising the flow of information. This act provides the idea that technological growth and safe communication can be achieved at the same time. It strengthens, fortifies, and reinforces the safety of Filipinos, especially when communicating while ensuring that avenues for innovation and technological development are not impeded.
