What is the Data Privacy Act of 2012?

The Data Privacy Act of 2012 or Republic Act 10173, is a law that ensures that all data submitted either through government or private sectors are kept in strict confidence. This is in line with 2012 being the time where the Internet truely began to be the medium of information, including personal and sensitive data. To make sure that all of these information are kept safe, the Republic Act 10173 aims to provide a strong penal system to punish online breaching of information and to protect the privacy of all personal information that are kept by the government.
