Title: “Water is Life”
An animal cell can be compared to a water. The animal cell is surrounded by a flexible and semi-permeable membrane called the cell membrane. This cell membrane acts as a barrier similar to the surface of water allowing certain substances to enter or leave the cell while keeping others out. Inside the cell is a watery fluid called cytoplasm which is like the water inside. The cytoplasm fills the cell and provides a medium for various cellular processes. The nucleus, the control center of the cell can be a small water inside the larger water. Other organelles such as mitochondria as the powerhouse of the cell, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus, and lysosomes can be compared to smaller water structures within the water. Comparing an animal cell to water helps visualize the cell’s structure, with the cell membrane acting as the outer layer and the cytoplasm as the watery interior where various cellular processes.
