Histology is a branch of biology focused on understanding the composition and structure of tissues in plants and animals, particularly in relation to their specific functions. It involves the microscopic examination of cells and tissues, known as microanatomy, to discern their unique characteristics. Each type of tissue or cell possesses distinct features shaped by the organism’s various functions. Histology employs advanced imaging methods to analyze and recognize these tissues and structures. Techniques like light microscopy and electron microscopy are utilized to visualize the minute details found in specially prepared tissue samples. By studying histology, researchers can identify unidentified tissues, gain insights into tissue or cell function, and even detect diseases within an organism’s cells.
