    WHY IS HISTOLOGY IMPORTANT?
From the name itself–with “histo” referring to tissue and “ology” pertaining to study–we can infer that Histology refers to the study of tissues. This field is greatly important as it is an avenue that allows us to better understand the inner workings of the microscopic world that our cells and tissues reside on. The intricacies and the complexity of the aforementioned cells such as their structure and function are fundamental in understanding the inner workings of our body. Through Histology, we can determine the intended organization of our tissues–making it possible to pinpoint abnormalities when these cells deviate from what is normally expected of them. Treatments and medical diagnosis can be impacted by the state of our tissues through interpreting whether they are healthy or unhealthy. Furthermore, the vital information and findings that our cells offer us under the microscope gives us a clearer picture of what the patient’s body and its different organs have gone through–uncovering the cause of diseases and how those issues affect people on a cellular level. This is why the understanding of tissues that Histology offers is significant in various fields such as pathology, anatomy, physiology, and even forensics.
