    Why is Histology important?

According to Mescher (2021), histology is the microscopic study on the structure, arrangement, and functional characteristics of tissues and organs in the human body. As microscopic views of the tissues are examined, histology allow physicians and healthcare experts to determine the state of health of the human body. It allows for the visualization of tissue structures and characteristic changes of the tissues, which could affect its function and health status in the body. Histological interpretation of tissues is crucial in the understanding of physiological and pathological biological processes of body organs (Schwamborn, 2017). The field of histology has been crucial in the development and advancement of medicine as tissue pathology and microscopic anatomy has been able to do wonders in the field. Detection of cancerous tissues or tumors has been pivotal in the fight towards finding and curing cancer patients. Without microscopic examinations of abnormal cells or tissues, cancer would surely be impossible to treat as tumors and cancer cells would spread and attack other organs, making it too late for any treatment and therapy. Truly a picture of the human tissues paints a thousand words about the human body.
