It’s responsible for transmitting electrical signals throughout the body, allowing for communication between different parts of the body and enabling various functions, including sensory perception, motor control, and cognition.

Fun fact: The longest neuron in the human body extends from the base of the spine to the big toe and can be over three feet long.
