March 13, 2024The nervous tissue is characterized as being excitable and capable of sending and receiving electrochemical signals that provide the body with information. There are two main classes of cells that make up the nervous tissue: (1) the neuron, which is responsible for propagating information via electrochemical impulses which is associated with the release of chemical signals, and (2) the neuroglia which plays an essential role in supporting the neurons.
