The primary component of our nervous system is the nervous or nerve tissue. It keeps an eye on and controls bodily processes. The two types of cells that make up nervous tissue are glial cells, which supply nutrition to neurons and aid in the transmission of nerve impulses. Nervous tissue makes up the brain, spinal cord, and nerves; these structures are specialized in quickly transmitting stimuli from one area of the body to another.
The Nervous Tissue Structure is composed of :
– Neurons, which are nerve cells with an axon in each.
– Axons: long, stem-like extensions which are in charge of facilitating cell-to-cell communication.
– Cell body: the primary component which is made up of the cytoplasm, organelles, and nucleus.
– Processes: the extensions of the cell membrane.
– Dendrite: a highly branching mechanism that receives information from synapses.Reference:
