    Histology of the Circulatory System🫀

The circulatory system, or the cardiovascular system, commands the function of blood cells—to pump and direct these blood cells and other substances to be carried in the blood to supply all tissues of the body. “Cardio” meaning ‘heart’ and “vascular” referring to ‘blood vessels.’ It consists of the heart, arteries, capillaries, and veins and these all participate in pumping blood from the heart to the lungs to obtain oxygen and then to the body.

The heart is the one that pumps blood throughout the system and is surrounded by a fibrous sac called the pericardium. The series of vessels efferent from the heart and is one of the carriers or transporters of blood to the tissues are called arteries. They become smaller since they branch out to the various organs in the body. The smallest vessels that act as the site of waste product exchange between blood and tissues are called the capillaries. Alongside the arteries, they both carry blood to and from various organs. Veins are the result of the convergence of venules into a system of larger channels. They are able to enlarge once they approach the heart, toward in which they carry the blood to be pumped once again.

The circulatory system is a complex network that works at keeping all of us alive and thus, it is important to keep ourselves healthy in order to not compromise the intriguing events inside our body.
