MT30 – CC (LEC) 2 years, 4 months ago The circulatory system is one of the integral organ systems in our body as it’s main function is to pump blood throughout the body. Our blood which is a connective tissue is made up of Red Blood Cells, White Blood Cells, Plasma, etc. Blood carries oxygenated blood from the heart to the different tissues and deoxygenated blood from the different tissues to the heart. Our blood flows inside our blood vessels which may be an artery (carrying ocygenated blood) or vein (carry deoxygenated blood). The exchange of gases, however, occurs in the capillary beds which is made up of only one layer the tunica intima. This structure aid in the diffusion of nutrients and wastes. As future medical technologists, it is integral to know more about, although not limited to, the circulatory system.
