Nervous tissues function as the body’s message system. They are composed of glial cells that act as support, and neurons, which are unique cells. Neurons transmit electrical signals that carry messages, allow thought, movement, and emotion. Glial cells offer protection and support to neurons. When together, they create intricate networks that regulate every bodily function, including breathing and learning. Treating diseases like Parkinson’s disease and stroke requires a deeper understanding of neural tissues, which enables us to better understand how our brain and nerves function (Nervous Tissue | SEER Training, n.d.).REFERENCE:
