Esophagus Stomach Mammal
The esophagus is a muscular tube that connects the pharynx to the stomach. Its histology is characterized by a stratified squamous epithelium, which provides a protective barrier against the passage of food and liquids (Tortora & Derrickson, 2018). The esophageal mucosa also contains numerous mucous glands that secrete lubricating mucus to facilitate swallowing.Human Tongue Posterior
The posterior region of the tongue is responsible for the perception of taste and the initiation of swallowing. Its histology includes the presence of numerous taste buds, which are specialized sensory structures that contain gustatory receptor cells (Tortora & Derrickson, 2018). The tongue’s surface is also covered with a keratinized stratified squamous epithelium, which provides protection against mechanical and chemical insults.Gall Bladder Human Section
The gallbladder is a small, pear-shaped organ that stores and concentrates bile, a digestive fluid produced by the liver. Its histology is characterized by a simple columnar epithelium, which is responsible for the reabsorption of water and the concentration of bile (Tortora & Derrickson, 2018). The tonsils are lymphoid structures located in the oropharynx that play a crucial role in the immune defense of the upper respiratory and digestive tracts. The duodenum is the first and shortest segment of the small intestine, responsible for the initial digestion and absorption of nutrients. Its histology is characterized by the presence of numerous mucosal folds, called villi, which increase the surface area for absorption (Tortora & Derrickson, 2018). The duodenal mucosa also contains numerous Brunner’s glands, which secrete mucus to protect the delicate epithelium from the acidic contents of the stomach.Jejunum Human
The jejunum is the second and longest segment of the small intestine, where the majority of nutrient absorption takes place. Its histology is similar to that of the duodenum, with the presence of numerous villi and a simple columnar epithelium (Tortora & Derrickson, 2018). The jejunum also contains a rich network of blood vessels and lymphatic vessels, which facilitate the absorption and transport of nutrients.References:
